And if you are blessed enough to have an abundance of money at this time, take a moment to think about those that have less. There are so many struggling at this time. While you may be attempting to coordinate your holiday menu, there are some that do not have the option to plan for a spectacular holiday meal. Please check in with your local churches and shelters...even your neighbors and family members. You may just be surprised who can benefit from a bit of joy and good cheer from you.
If you have children, incorporate them in your giving so they grow to understand the meaning of charity and the true meaning of "Good Will To Men" . And do remember those that have lost precious loved ones, jobs, homes, etc. this year. Holidays may not be as happy for them as they would like it to be. They/I need your prayers. Thank you so very much.
On the other hand, if you have experienced a lost and you are struggling, consider doing the following:
1) Pray. Prayer really changes things. God is with you so please don't give up hope.
2) Share. Tell others how you are feeling. Let others know that you do have a need at this time. As my parents used to say, "Trouble won't last always". Do not think you are being a bother. The Bible tells us, "You have not because you ask not." Know again, God is always with you and hears your cry but He also puts others in our path at times to uplift those in need so blessings can abound throughout. One day, you will once again be able to help someone.
3) Network. Call the churches and recreational centers in your area. You will be surprised to find those that are providing free meals at this time of year and would be happy to have you and your family join in that celebration. I attended a function at my church last night. More people showed up than was expected and guess what, the feeling was THE MORE THE MERRIER! There was so much delicious food and even at the end of the night, there were left overs. What a joyous time we had eating, laughing, playing games and dancing...Yep, David danced, right? Do what you can to get out of the house, embrace others and let others embrace you.
4) The Arts. What a blessing the Greater Cleveland Area is. The Cleveland Art Museum is FREE. Certain events at Playhouse Square this time of year are FREE. Even getting out to walk downtown's Public Square, the downtown district in your particular area and/or experiencing the art in your neighborhood from those that creatively decorated can be very uplifting. Touch bases with the theatres and museums in your area to experience FREE or low cost concerts and events in your specific area. REMEMBER, (and I shared this a while back so check out our Archives) but one of the best ways to see various events at no cost, is to volunteer your time! It is another way to meet great people, see great places and see spectacular events....FREE!
THERE IS A REAL REASON FOR THIS SEASON...
HAVE A VERY, VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
