Mission: Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and
East Central Ohio, Inc. works to improve the quality of life and employment
opportunities for all people.
I have written several times over the years about Goodwill
Industries. I actually think of it as the gift
that keeps on giving and here at 95.5 The Fish, we are so greatful that Goodwill
Industries of Greater Cleveland is one of the Supporting Sponsors of THE
MOM SQUAD MOTHER'S DAY EVENT!!!!
If you have never visited a Goodwill location, this is what I do and I
offer it as a suggestion to you:
The next time you have a need, for example a blue cotton skirt, a pair of
black dress shoes, a suit jacket or some fancy plates for a girlfriend
luncheon....WHATEVER...go to a Goodwill location FIRST. I truly believe
you will be surprised by the neatness of the stores, the organization (size,
color, item type), the selection...believe it not, though the slightly used
donations are fabulous, there are brand new items there too! I've
been taking care of my Mom for 7.5 years. These have been lean times financially but the Heavenly Father keeps providing and Goodwill Industries has been a blessing. Over the years Mom has gradually lost weight, she doesn't like pull
on shirts at times so a couple of years ago I decided to see if I could find
some clothing for her at the Goodwill in my neighborhood. I found 5
beautiful Evan Picone button shirts for pennys... literally! WOW! I was so
excited. I have since purchased two couches, a DVD player, a rattan DVD stand
(I'm all about wicker and rattan), dress shoes, hiking boots (on my birthday 2
years ago - YAY ME), rain and winter coats, 2 leather purses, beautiful plates, and
a queen size silk bedspread that is so luxurious I can hardly believe its
all mine, and the list goes on. PLUS, if you have something wonderful to donate,
keep track of those items because they are tax deductible. Whether you are
financially stable or things are a bit wobbly like an uneven table...supporting
Goodwill Industries makes good
CENTS. HA.
Your donations AND your purchases help Goodwill
Industries provide so much for so many. You can even become a
Goodwill volunteer!
Well, enough about me....tell your family and friends and run to your local
Goodwill location. Go to their
website,
www.goodwillgoodskills.org to find out more. Check out their
history and special events too. Hope to see you May 5th!
